While Elizabeth Warren was reading a 1986 letter by civil rights leader, Coretta Scott King, in protest of attorney general Jeff Sessions’ nomination, she was interrupted and ultimately silenced by Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell. His words:

“Senator Warren was giving a lengthy speech. She had appeared to violate the rule. She was warned. She was given an explanation. Nevertheless, she persisted.”
